The smoothie shown above was lunch earlier this week. The special guest was ruby red grapefruit. I think I'll be adding grapefruit to my smoothies more often.
Vanilla Grapefruit Green Smoothie
- 2 handfuls greens (I used a combo of spinach and baby kale)
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 ruby red grapefruit
I discovered that I love the way vanilla and grapefruit taste together. The smooth, sweet vanilla and bright, tart grapefruit complement each other. The banana and almond milk add a creaminess that helps buffer the tart of the grapefruit as well, especially if the banana is frozen. This might be one of my new favorite smoothie combinations!
